If you can't pay your bills, chances are high you may not be able to pay your rent, and this could negatively affect the complex as a whole. thus, don't be surprised if you are asked to give permission for a credit check before your apartment application is approved. If a complex does not like what they see, they may not let you rent with them.

If you know what is on your credit report, you can end up saving yourself a lot of grief and will not be surprised when the applying for credit. Additionally, once you know what's on this document, you can then review it to make sure all of the information is correct and can work on improving your credit bit by bit. Thus, credit really is everything. If you work on keeping your credit on the up and up, everything from obtaining a loan to securing an apartment can be made that much easier.
